Microsoft 365 E5

E5 adds the top security and compliance tier to E3, along with Power BI Pro and Teams Phone capability. The security additions — Defender for Endpoint Plan 2, Defender for Identity, Defender for Cloud Apps and Entra ID Premium P2 — represent a genuinely different posture rather than an incremental one.

E5 is rarely the right answer for a whole organisation. The common pattern is E3 as the baseline with E5 security add-ons applied to the users who warrant them, and we will model that split rather than quoting a blanket upgrade.
